Intro |
It wasn't a far cry for Rikkai Dai Fuzoku to consider Hyoutei as one of the biggest threats from Tokyo. Last year, Hyoutei advanced to the Kantou finals and was a Sweet 16 team at the Nationals. With more than 200 club members, Hyoutei never uses their actual regular members until it really counts. This year, Hyoutei ran into a string of bad luck. An unexpected quarterfinal loss to Fudoumine at the Tokyo Prefectural Tournament forced them to duke it out in the consolation matches. At the Kantou Tournament, they drew Seishun Gakuen in the first round, and were defeated in a tight six-set match. Although this loss should have ended their run at this year's tournament, Tokyo was chosen to host the Nationals and the committee gave Hyoutei the Recommendation Spot. After plowing through their first two opponents, Hyoutei once again came up short and was unable to break Seigaku's momentum. |
